Firewalking

The Vibe directors lead 80 young people over hot coals this month – all in the name of self belief. The firewalk was part of the three day Miss and Mister Wales competitions – which is one of the highlights of Vibe’s event management calendar. A fantastic day – and just a couple of blisters reported.

Back in the city centre!

After several years of having an out of town base, Vibe’s offices are back in the city centre. Marketing director, Clare Birt, said: “We love being in the heart of things. We’re too busy to make the most of where we are though – not enough hours in the day to go shopping but we do squeeze in a latte from time to time.”

A win, win situation

Vibe directors, Paula and Clare, were presented with The Joshua Foundation Memorial Award for Contribution Towards Charity at the inaugural Welsh Women Mean Business event. Thrilled with the win, Paula and Clare would like to dedicate the award to all the fantastic young Welsh women who take part in Miss Wales every year and fundraise fabulously for charity.

Welsh Women Mean Business

A £300,000 contribution to charity in less than three years could see the two Vibe directors take centre stage at the Welsh Women Mean Business Awards next month in Cardiff. Paula Abbandonato and Clare Birt, have been nominated for the award for the money as a result of their they have generated for The Joshua Foundation, a Wales based charity for children with cancer.The duo will find out if they have been successful at the WWMB awards at the Mercure Holland House Hotel on Thursday 11 March. Presenting the awards is founder and chair of Pineapple Dance Studios, Debbie Moore.

A male in the camp!

Vibe has appointed a man to the once all female team in Cardiff. Owen Morgan has joined as marketing and design executive and will work on a variety of initiatives for the agency. Marketing Director, Clare Birt, said: “Owen blew us away with his creativity! He’s going to be a huge asset to our team and we’re very excited to have him on board.”

Vibe triumphs at PR awards

Once again, Vibe has come up trumps at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations PRide Awards. The team picked up two golds at the event. The first was for Best Low Budget PR Campaign, which saw them receive the top prize on behalf of Peter’s Pies. Vibe had created Shane Williams out of a Peter’s steak and ale pie around the RBS Six Nations. The idea captured the attention of the Welsh media and the judges described the campaign as ‘engaging’. Vibe also won Best Event for the Miss Wales 2009 competition for its contribution to charity and the way it empowers young women.

June 2009

£100k for charity

The Vibe team proudly handed over more than £120,000 to kids with cancer this month, thanks to the Miss Wales and Mister Wales competitions for 2009. The monies ­ all fundraised by the contestants ­ was donated to Vibe’s chosen charity The Joshua Foundation which provides life experiences for children with cancer. Miss World, Ksenia Sukhinova from Russia, came to the Miss Wales final to celebrate the achievement.
